There are additional bugs present in this version of GNOME Text Editor, including:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-text-editor/+bug/2064025

A viable solution could be for the Canonical staff to update the package to the latest version, as these bugs have been addressed in the most recent upstream release.
