Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

I'm running Ubuntu Feisty.

The option to "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers" is unchecked. When checking it, it asks whether I want to install NTP support. I click "Install" and then I get the following error:

"Could not apply changes!
Fix broken packages first."

But I have none in Synaptic.

I know some of the NTP packages changed names for Feisty, but I'm not sure if this is related.

I have ntp and ntpdate installed.

Thank you for your bug. Does installing "ntp-server" from synaptic works fine?

I can't install ntp-server:

"Depends: ntp-simple but it is not going to be installed or
ntp-refclock but it is not going to be installed
Depends: ntp but it is not going to be installed"

Each of those depends on ntp. I suspect some dependencies haven't been synced, because each is a transition package and both have been replaced with ntp.

Seems like maybe this bug affects ntp packages instead?

More specifcally, it seems that ntp-server's dependencies haven't been updated to reflect the transitioned packages.

2.17.5 hasn't been released yet (at least it's not on the main server yet): http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/gnome/gnome-system-tools

How soon can I expect it?

It has been uploaded yesterday: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-tools/2.17.5-0ubuntu1

It's waiting on the new liboobs to be accepted to build though, that might be after the herd CD planned for tomorrow

I just checked the time prefs in Feisty again today and not only is it fixed, but the whole look of the Time Settings is new :)

Thats one less bug to worry about; thanks!
