I get this too.

Installed PostgreSQL via synaptic, but there's no entry for it in the gnome menu System->Administration->Services
I can see it's process running, and the /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.3 definitely exists.

Can't see tomcat5.5 and tomcat6, either. This bug exists in Intrepid with g-s-t 2.22.1-0ubuntu1. The root of the problem is that the list of services in services-admin is hard-wired in the source code. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440220
