gnome-software does not allow seaching using keyboard

After opening Gnome-Software, entering a program name will result in multiple repetitions of each keystroke. For example, trying to search for 'thunderbird' will result in "tthhunnddeerrbbiirrdd"

Point-and-click does work, as does apt-get from the terminal.
