I managed to run nvidia+unity 3D, and while transparency worked it was REALLY slow, and trying to launch "gnome-shell --replace" gives a clutter error. Back to nouveau. The thing is that older version of precise worked with the nvidia driver, so this is a regression withou a very long back time frame.
