Problem disappears for me after revertering FROM linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic TO linux-image-4.15.0-43-generic

Seems to be other issues with linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic, I get lockups simply by disconnecting the USB-C cable to my monitor ("undocking", if you will).
