It sounds like this bug is only affecting "Ubuntu on Wayland" and not "Ubuntu". Is that right?
The error message:
Failed to set CRTC mode 1600x1200: No space left on device
comes from mutter's eglnative (Wayland) backend, after calling drmModeSetCrtc. So "No space left on device" is an error from the kernel with no further explanation :(
Can you please try logging into "Ubuntu" (the Xorg session), run 'xrandr' and send us the output?
