Bug Description

When I start applications like telegram, steam or dropbox, I'm used to see an appindicator icon to show it's running in the background. This doesn't happen in gnome-shell on Artful.

On Xenial it was working correctly for me.

Update: rebooting made the indicator appear correctly. After locking the session they're gone again. I'm not using Wayland.

I'm using the Topicons Plus extension. Disabling it doesn't make the indicators appear again, so I suppose it's not related.

I believe Gnome Shell puts app indicator icons in a hidden tray in the bottom left of the screen. Try moving your mouse down there. And if they don't appear, try also reverting your custom launcher because that might be preventing the icons from revealing themselves. Please also try with the default Ubuntu theme...

I'm no longer experiencing this, so maybe an update solved the issue.
