Hi Tim,
So two points:
#1 Test with gnome-settings-daemon 3.6 from gnome3-team
* this doesn't solve my issue
$ dpkg -s gnome-settings-daemon Package: gnome-settings-daemon Status: install ok installed Priority: optional Section: gnome Installed-Size: 7191 Maintainer: Ubuntu Desktop Team <email address hidden> Architecture: amd64 Version: 3.6.3-0ubuntu2~ubuntu12.10.1
#2 Confirm comment #3 from Davi da Silva Böger (dsboger)
* press the keys "Enter"+password+"Enter" the screen is unlocked and the shell is back
So my conclusion on this is that the unlock screen is present, active & functional but not displayed somehow.
