Ubuntu Dock has no icons when logged in with USB storage plugged in

If I connect a USB key to the computer then login the Favorites side bar is empty and the Application launcher does not work.

The mouse and keyboard still work

Removing the USB key does not resolve the issue

Removing the USB key and then logging out and back in again resolves the issue.

Update - If I lock the screen and then unlock it - the Side bar comes back and works as normal.

This is issues is reproducible.

Update

If I open a terminal screen (CTRL + ALT + T) and then go full screen (F11) for at least 5 seconds then go back to default size (F11) then the Ubuntu Dock is redrawn and is shown as expected.

USB storage is 4 GB FAT formatted

Thank you for your bug report, could you add your 'journalctl -b 0' log after seeing the issue?
