This hits me twofold:
1. Quitting vim in a terminal takes more than one second which is very annoying.
2. I don't want desktop icons.

My (sledgehammer) solution: "sudo rm -rf /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano"
