i can confirm comment #120 fix worked for me

from command line
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.keyboard remember-numlock-state false
and in case you had to
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.keyboard numlock-state 'off'

i added these commands to a custom new file in
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/
