I believe I am experiencing this problem in a different way. Some times when
I boot my HP Pavilion dvd (ATI video) I don't see the login or desktop. I
see either a black screen or the plymouth boot screen.
The system is not locked as I hear the audio and I can still login
"blindly". Pressing the power button and <enter> bring up the shut down
process as expected.
