I've not been using the daily CDs, but I not sure whether this isn't fixed, or whether I'm afflicted by bug #654660 as well. So to confirm, using gconftool to set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/xrandr/use_xorg_monitor_settings to true like so:
sudo -u gdm gconftool --type bool --set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/xrandr/use_xorg_monitor_settings true
Will make g-s-d use xorg details to set up the screens rather than the newer methods employed by g-s-d?
