This bug is still here. I have an AMD64 system running current hardy, and I have been observing this bug intermittently for a while. Like the other posters, I see a hang on /tmp/.ICE-unix/* when this happens. So, the IPV6 changes to glibc did not fix it. (2.6.1--6ubuntu2)

This bug tends to happen when I am connected to a low-signal strength wireless access point. If the connection stops working, then programs such as xterm, gnome-terminal, evince, etc all stall for a very long time before starting.

I am surprised that this bug has survived so long - it is pretty severe when it occurs!

Is there anything I can do that will help? Backtraces of gnome-session?
