Setting to Confirmed. Indeed if I remove (like I did) gnome-power-manager from the autostart list (System->Preferences->Sessions), gnome-session-save --kill or clicking the Quit icon or selecting System->Quit results in ca. 60s wait. If I cancel it, the next time it works as normal. If I logout and login again, the 60s wait is there again.
Relieved to having found what was the cause of the problem, though... it was really annoying.
