Actually, I noticed that the normal screen saver (activated by the OS after no activity for a certain time, not manually activated using e.g. `gnome-screensaver-command -a` or `xset dpms force off`) successfully turns off keyboard backlight and additional lights (e.g. the Apple logo light on the back of Macbooks).

Maybe it would be enough to make the lock screen command activate the screen saver in the same manner the OS activates it after a certain amount of non-activity.
