This gets more and more important by today, as most users doesn't shutdown their system but use standby. I expect my notebook to be locked if I close the lid. More and more everyday devices like phones and pads trains that expectation and establish screen locks as a tight security feature. So something should be done instantly, even if it is a short living hack that will be overcome by a better design elsewhere.
