Confirming this as a bug under Ubuntu Jaunty x86_64 bit, was the same with Intrepid, screensaver locks up both Eduke32 and latest Doomsday, both using SDL. I have to run them windowed or disabled the screensaver before playing.
Only program that truly disables the screensaver successfully is VLC, not sure about totem because I hardly ever use it. :p
