I successfully applied Victor's suggestion and it works fine now. Instead of just renaming wvdial, I moved it to my home, where it will keep visible to me while this bug is not fixed officially. When it does, then I'll remember to remove that wvdial.bin on my home (if you leave on /usr/bin then you may not...).
