the problem is not GTK is is WVdial itself that's causing this, I didn't do a terminal dist upgrade nor did I do a download - burn to cd and format, however I did get the gutsy updates one by one so I now believe since ALL is updated i have gutsy- well a tip from me is if I went back to the old feisty version it worked fine, even when all updates are applied however as soon wvdial is updated to the Gutsy version this problem occurs where as it just hangs at authenticating - however i still can surf the net and so forth.. I also think before typing this I ruint myself of going back to an earlier version and the installer if downloaded on it's own will not budge it says installing but nothing at all goes and the reinstall or install button does nothing...
