Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
I am running Ubunutu 10.10 on my Dell Studio 1458. If I don't work on my computer for a long time, the system turns off the display. If I try to press some keys or move the mouse, the display "kind of" turns on and shows a blinking cursor for about a few seconds after which the screen just goes blank. I can see that the screen is power up because the screen is not completely pitch dark but it is blank. The only thing to do is to restart. I cant even switch to other non graphical terminal (crtl+alt+

I believe its a problem with g-p-m because when I installed xscreensaver and used its power management, there were no issues at all but with xscreensaver but using g-p-m as power manager, the issue started coming up again. xscreensaver is an eye sore and does not have features that gnome-screensaver gives so I reverted it back.
