Assuming we stick with gnome-power-manager which is likely, we will have the two icons on an upgraded system unless we make the battstat applet detect g-p-m and offer to quit or something.
I think it's unlikely that people would want both present, but not impossible. Ditto perhaps our g-p-m could detect battstat and suggest to the user they remove it (and then sets a gconf key so it doesn't bother the user again) or something?
