@Mize: to remove superflous gpanel entries - from Gnome panel(?):

open a terminal
$ cd ~/.gconf/apps/panel
$ grep pilot `find . -type f`
edit the XML file deleting "<li>...</li>" structures holding gpilot lines
delete corresponding directories "applet_[number]"
