Bug Description

I use transparent panels, and would really like to have the arrow buttons transparent too. By that, I mean, the area just outside of the buttons. That area is grey, and should be transparent to make them more attractive for user with panels with other colours than grey, or transparent.

Thanks for your feature request. I've forwarded it upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343004

Thanks! (I have started a vendetta against non-transparent panel items, 7 bug entries for now :) )

I just wanted to add my voice to those asking for this feature. The "handles" on the side of the gnome panels ought to be configurable / removable / transparent.

How can this bug take 2 years to fix? This is still not fixed upstream, right?

Bug still not fixed. Can someone confirm if this looked the same way in warty as it does in jaunty?
I could dig out a really old cd and take a screenshot...

what do you think that trying on warty would bring? that's a known and confirmed upstream issue

That's funny, because one bug report upstream is classified " not confirmed" and the other is "new".
In reply to your post, many things have been done over time,
Compiz, new themes, new versions of gnome/gtk, but just the same,
this particular interface element has not changed at all since the very beginning.
The beginning, for me , being warty. Jaunty will soon be released, and the gnome-panel handles now,
in 2009, are going to be the very same as they were in 2003.
