NOTE: panel "applets" and "objects" are _DIFFERENT_ things!

My understanding from Vincent is that applets cannot be objects and
vice-versa.
The only way to have the panel show the fusa applet instead of the
logout object would be to have the fusa applet code merged into the
panel as a new object.
