Bug Description

I have a windows live account set up via ubuntu-online-accounts. When I first set it up it works fine, I see my contacts in empathy and can chat with them. But like clockwork, a day or so later I am greeted with this in my empathy contact list: "Windows live requires authorization". Clicking the button next to the message just opens the windows live account in UOA, where it says its "on". I've tried restarting and empathy and even the computer when this happens but it doesn't help, the only way to fix it is to remove the windows live account in UOA and re-add it. This has happened to me like 5 times now, very annoying. Doesn't happen with any of my other UOA accounts (Facebook, google talk, aim.)

this bug is similar to bug 1064113, is not it?

It does sound similar, although I've never had the "An error occured while loading the authentication page" issue mentioned there, for me the intitial account setup always works fine, its just that at random empathy decides to take a working account and say it needs authorization until I delete and re-add the account.

Since I filed this bug report I have also had it happen with google talk though, and once with AIM. It happens most often with a windows live account for me, occasionally with google talk, and I haven't been able to reproduce AIM. It does sound like its possibly the same bug, it seems to be some kind of UOA issue, I never had this happen with gnome's GOA.

I can verify same behavior, symptoms are exactly the same, however I've managed to get Google talk back online after switching it on/off few times, this didn't work for windows live how ever, complete removal and re-adding was necessary.

Yeah, same here aleksi. If the problem happens with AIM or Google talk I can toggle it on/off and it comes back, WL is the only one that requires re-adding.

Same problem here. Very annoying. Google talk and windows live complain about their authorization although they are already authorized.

I appear to be having the same problem with GoogleTalk. Windows Live and Facebook seem to be working. Additionally, I keep getting untrusted connection warnings.

Hi,
Same problem here (Ubuntu 12.10, Empathy 3.6.0.3).
I have 2 Windows Live accounts configured, and they alternatively complain about "authorization needed".
Sometimes, only deactivate/reactivate account is sufficient, but most of time it needs to be deleted and re added.

I've noticed that most of time (but not only) the problem appears after computer wake up from standby state.

Regards

I keep having this problem as well and just fired up empathy-debugger. I then filtered it only to show Empathy.Auth messages and it looks like there is a timeout to the server. I have attached this log (with only the auth messages in it). If anything else is required please let me know.
