This is exasperating. 3 different builds with Ubuntu, 2 64bit & 1 32bit and every single one incapable of simply formatting any kind of flash pen (or disk!!!). I miss 12.04 so badly! Also, I had to turn to a Windows system to format & erase my flash pens. Pretty embarrassing. Not only that, you also can't name the volume on the (fruitless) process! Why?
Also, it seems to have become impossible to format a pen right from the Unity sidebar launcher, with a right-click. You can only Unlock from launcher/ Open / Eject; how silly is that? The navigation pane also lost this ability. Why? How come this is not more commented in forums? (Or commented at all?)
Solution, proposed by a friend: change to Xubuntu. Things are working over there.
The final Quantal seems crankier than the first beta!
I've also thrown Disks away!
