2012-04-15 05:47:15 Lonnie Lee Best description The steps to change "Default Applications" in Ubuntu 12.04 (beta 2), doesn't make any sense to me. Here's what you must do: (1) Right click on Power button icon (top-right on desktop) (2) Click System Settings. So far, so good. (3) Click "Details" icon ***What? Every system setting is a "detail", how would anyone know to look there for "Default Application" modification?*** (4) Click Default Applications I propose that we either (1) Make an icon for "Default Applications" in the main System Settings panel OR (2) do what you've done with "Startup Applications"; place it right there in the power button's menu. Note: Even if you make an icon especially for default applications, it can still open up to the same management window as before (see image attachment). This bug report is a usability issue. I hoping to make "Default Applications" easier to find for new users. The fact that Default Applications doesn't work right now, is another bug that you should subscribe to as well (to emphasize its importance): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/876897 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.4.0-0ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Apr 15 00:26:57 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-control-center UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-04-05 (9 days ago) usr_lib_gnome-control-center: activity-log-manager-control-center 0.9.4-0ubuntu3 deja-dup 22.0-0ubuntu2 gnome-bluetooth 3.2.2-0ubuntu5 indicator-datetime 0.3.94-0ubuntu1 The steps to change "Default Applications", in Ubuntu 12.04 (beta 2), don't make any sense to me.
