Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. Since this is not quick and easy to fix it can't be addressed as part of the project.

Since this is also upstream GNOME, you should consider going on #gnome-design (via irc.gnome.org) and mock up a solution. Other mockups can be found at http://gitorious.org/gnome-design
