I have this message running mplayer from terminal:
E: shm.c: shm_open() failed: Permission denied
but video and sound played successfully
my system: Linux laptop 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 15 11:03:58 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
