This bug also hit me in early April, on Jammy (Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS). Settings->Sound suddenly had only the S/PDIF option; HDMI/DisplayPort was gone, as well as the analog option.

Upgrading to Kinetic and then Lunar brought back HDMI/DisplayPort, which is the device I need. The analog line output is still missing, as are the analog mic and line inputs.

Just wanted to mention the bug affects the most recent LTS release, and even the Lunar is still missing the analog devices.
