Comment 58 for bug 34247

This problem is existing right now for me in Gutsy final (running the LiveCD only for now). The applet shows an empty trash while the desktop icon (added manually) shows stuff in the trash. I deleted some items from an external drive, and they show up correctly in Nautilus. I also deleted local files and the trash applet showed no trash. When you right-click on it, it still shows no trash, and there's no way to empty the trash (it's just greyed out). If you right click on the applet and select Open, it does show the trash with stuff in it.
