I can confirm that xtknight's packages fix both problems for me.

For anyone else looking to test, you have to download and install the .debs individually, because they are now the same version as the ones for Hardy, so they won't upgrade automatically.

xtknight: I see you're removing a bunch of code with that patch. Do you have any idea what it was originally added for?
