2009-05-12 13:06:43 Maelvon description Binary package hint: libc6 I've a server running a fresh install of the Jaunty Ubuntu version. And it freeze with no clue, nos log trace. The story is that I've got the same bug on a Debian 4.0, and solved the problem, temporary, with the install of the unstable libc6 version and a recent kernel. But as I need the python2.6 as default with other library, I've jump to Jaunty, and do a fresh install. But the freeze comes back. It seems to have a similar bug on Gentoo[1], and on Debian (I've already report a bug on Debian[3]. ), the other solution[2] is to downgrade the libc6. So as I'm now on Ubuntu, what can I do to go further, which log to show here to help to debug ? Today I've added "clock=pit" to the grub menu.lst, as suggested here [4] [1] http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228263 [2] http://blog.yoda-bzh.net/index.php?post/2008/02/21/Ma-dedibox-est-enfin-stable-o/ [3] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=507845 [4] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=507845#59 # uname -a ---------------------------------------- Linux marat.maar.fr 2.6.28-11-server #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 02:48:10 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux ---------------------------------------- # cat /proc/version_signature ---------------------------------------- Ubuntu 2.6.28-11.42-server ---------------------------------------- # cat /proc/cpuinfo ---------------------------------------- processor : 0 vendor_id : CentaurHauls cpu family : 6 model : 10 model name : VIA Esther processor 2000MHz stepping : 9 cpu MHz : 1994.807 cache size : 128 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge cmov pat clflush acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 tm nx up pni est tm2 rng rng_en ace ace_en ace2 ace2_en phe phe_en pmm pmm_en bogomips : 3989.61 clflush size : 64 power management: ---------------------------------------- # sudo vim /boot/grub/menu.lst ---------------------------------------- title Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-11-server root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-server root=/dev/sda2 clock=pit ro quiet splash initrd /initrd.img-2.6.28-11-server title Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-11-server (recovery mode) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-server root=/dev/sda2 ro single initrd /initrd.img-2.6.28-11-server ---------------------------------------- Binary package hint: libc6 I've a server running a fresh install of the Jaunty Ubuntu version.
