Bug Description

Binary package hint: libc6

I've a server running a fresh install of the Jaunty Ubuntu version. And it freeze with no clue, nos log trace.

The story is that I've got the same bug on a Debian 4.0, and solved the problem, temporary, with the install of the unstable libc6 version and a recent kernel. But as I need the python2.6 as default with other library, I've jump to Jaunty, and do a fresh install. But the freeze comes back.

It seems to have a similar bug on Gentoo[1], and on Debian (I've already report a bug on Debian[3].
), the other solution[2] is to downgrade the libc6.

So as I'm now on Ubuntu, what can I do to go further, which log to show here to help to debug ?
Today I've added "clock=pit" to the grub menu.lst, as suggested here [4]

I'm try to figure out if the modification of the locales can be the origin to thoses freezes. I've put the locales to fr_FR.UTF-8, and that after that, the freezes appears!

The libc6 is hightly connected to the locales, no?

After some tests, and an uptime at ten days, the server crashes after reconfiguring the locales.

Can it be related to the following bug, talking about a lack of immunity to electro-magnetic radiation of the VIA Epia mini-itx motherboard ?
