Bug Description
Binary package hint: synaptic
When opening synaptic from the Ubuntu menu, or from gnome-do, the password dialog opens up, and when the password is correctly entered, synaptic does not open up.
When "gksu synaptic" is run from the terminal, this is shown:
Synaptic will open when "sudo synaptic" is run from the command line.
I think it must be something to do with gksu, as when I open a .deb file, it opens up, but when "Install package" is clicked, it closes without installing, however they can be installed using "sudo gdebi package.deb" or "sudo dpkg -i package.deb" are run from the terminal.
I am running Karmic 64-bit.
affects: | synaptic (Ubuntu) → gksu (Ubuntu) |
Thought I would try other things that run with gksu, and it turns out that gparted doesn't work either. So clearly, the problem seems to be with gksu, and not synaptic.
gksudo also does the same as gksu
