I have the same bug,
#uname -a
Linux vanbastenubu64 2.6.27-6-generic #1 SMP Tue Oct 7 04:15:23 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I noticed that gksu works fine from shell, the problem seems to be using gksu directly from the gnome-keyring when trying to make an escalation of permissions to root.

For example, the update-manager in the system tray does not work, but if I start from shell "gksu update-manager" then everything works.

My last paragraph is incorrect

"For example, the update-manager in the system tray does not work, but if I start from shell "gksu update-manager" then everything works."

The problem in system tray update-manager comes when i try to install reported update or when i force the check for update.
