Window size in geometry option is ignored

Bug Description
When I run
$ /usr/bin/gedit --geometry=
(with no previous instance of Gedit running) the window is positioned accordingly but its size is not 600x800 but instead the last size of the window is retained.
Expected behaviour:
The size of the window should be 600x800.
System information:
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 13.10
Release: 13.10
$ apt-cache policy gedit
gedit:
Installed: 3.8.3-0ubuntu3
