Bug Description

I updated the machine yesterday, and additionally added the fingerprint to pam using pam-auth-update. The screen now stays purple after logging in using the finger, but works fine after logging in using the password.

Thanks for the bug report.

Next time the screen stays purple, please:

1. Wait 10 seconds.

2. Reboot and login with password.

3. Run:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

4. Attach the resulting text file here.

5. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:

   ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash

Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

6. If step 5 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → gnome-shell (Ubuntu)

Here is the file from step 3

The directory /var/crash is empty, or at least ls /var/crash/ does not return anything.

There are some error reports, but just about onedrive and they are from last year, so I doubt they are relevant for this problem.

I can't see the cause of the problem in that log, sorry.

Given we don't see "GNOME Shell started" in that log file it seems gnome-shell probably isn't to blame here, so unassigning.

no longer affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
