I'm suffering this after this update too. It is the latest in a depressingly long list of Ubuntu updates that have ****ed up my system. You really *need* better testing of updates. If you can't improve the testing then there needs to be a way to roll-back the system to before an update.
Instead of the login screen I see the output of a log. Every item the log is [ OK ] except for
[ .] A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (28s / no limit)[ OK ] Started Show Plymouth BootScreen.
The last entry is
[ OK ] Started GNOME DisplayManager. Dispatcher Service....upport.hanges.pp link was shut down.
lightdm is not working for me. Yes a login screen is displayed but after login the screen goes black for quite some time then the login screen reappears again. I am unable to use my system so this is a priority 1 bug for me.
