I must ask you, however, to be careful when uttering semi-sarcastic statements like "some programmers infinite wisdom". Though I, personally, can retrace your original intent to some level, others might not recognize this as a joke, and will perceive this comment as abrasive.

As for the sound of drums, did you untick the "play login sound" box in the "login screen" window of the system settings dialog?
