Thanks for reporting this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I get the same error message when I attempt to start gdevilspie 1:0.5-3 on Ubuntu Raring.

from another bug report if you comment out line 374 'self.UpdateAutostartStatus()' the program will run.

I also get this error (raring kubuntu). Commented line 374 and it starts, then when I just tried to start the daemon (which wasn't running) I got:
