GCE team has released some versions of its guest agents (https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/compute-image-packages/releases) since you published your latest package version. So there are some new features and bug fixes that would be great to have in all Ubuntu releases. The current latest upstream version is 20181023.

This update also might help us doing some QA on Ubuntu GCE images, as you can see here: https://k8s-testgrid.appspot.com/google-gce-compute-image-tools#linux-image-tests&width=20

This is a test suite that is executed against all Linux distros images, and since the beginning of this month Ubuntu has been tested too. This test suite has been improved in order to support Ubuntu.
