Bug Description
This has been going on for quite a while and still cannot understand why it has not been corrected.
Metadata in Ubuntu Medium, Ubuntu Light and Ubuntu Thin does not follow standard convention.
Abbreviated output of fc-list | grep Ubuntu (showing the problematic fonts)
Ubuntu-L.ttf: Ubuntu,Ubuntu Light:style=
Ubuntu-
Ubuntu-M.ttf: Ubuntu,Ubuntu Light:style=
Ubuntu-MI.ttf: Ubuntu,Ubuntu Light:style=Medium Italic,Bold Italic
Ubuntu-Th.ttf: Ubuntu,Ubuntu Thin:style=
But fc-list output should be:
Ubuntu-L.ttf: Ubuntu Light:style=Regular
Ubuntu-LI.ttf: Ubuntu Light:style=Italic
Ubuntu-M.ttf: Ubuntu Medium:
Ubuntu-MI.ttf: Ubuntu Medium:style=Italic
Ubuntu-Th.ttf: Ubuntu Thin:style=Regular
This affects Bionic, Cosmic, Dingo and Eoan and distributions based on them. Very large set.
Applications affected, Libreoffice, Scribus, Inkscape, Pinta and others. Some cannot even see Medium or Light fonts.
I have attached a set of corrected fonts for review. A fix is possible.
This shows before and after the fix:
~$ fc-list : family | grep Ubuntu
Ubuntu,Ubuntu Thin
Ubuntu
Ubuntu Condensed
Ubuntu,Ubuntu Light
Ubuntu Mono
~$ fc-list : family | grep Ubuntu
Ubuntu Light
Ubuntu
Ubuntu Condensed
Ubuntu Medium
Ubuntu Thin
Ubuntu Mono
