Why link in every file from /usr/share/doc/fontconfig-config/ to /usr/share/doc/fontconfig/ (and forgetting one) instead of making the directory a symlink if that is what's necessary? Debian upstream was fixed in 2.5.93-1. IOW, Intrepid and later are not affected by this problem (although the directories still look rather messy) Thank you for reporting. Closing.
