Not really true, at least not on OS X 10.3.7:
The focus has to change. In the case of the flash plug-in, once it has focus,
one has to click somewhere else. Simply clicking somewhere in the bookmarks bar
or another toolbar wont' do. I found that clicking into the address field
removes focus from the flash plugin, as well as clicking in the html-area of a
site, if the plug-in doesn't take up the whole browser window.
Simply having the mouse cursor over another area won't do it.
