Whilst the focus of this bug is on Flash, due to it's current ubiquity, the bug affects all plugins. Therefore, even if Flash is abandoned, as long as there are still plugins in general, this bug will still need fixing.

Also, it's worth mentioning that even if Flash were to be discontinued, there is still a huge wealth of Flash-based content out there (games and cartoons in particular) which won't simply disappear. So even if ads and video-streaming move into HTML5, and even if no new Flash content is being generated, people will still be using Flash to access content for a long time to come.
