I see a disadvantage on the proposed solutions in Comment #259 and Comment #260: this would freeze the set of hotkeys available to either FF and the plugin. As pointed out by some, we'd be better served by the ability to change focus between the browser and the plugin - then a hot key can be reserved for that, as F6, for example. So, instead of losing funcionality for the browser and the plugin, we just pick one to deal with - switching any time. This seems simpler to implement and use.
