There's too much bazaar and not enough cathedral here :)

Since 2006 Mats Palmgren is the owner of this bug, however nothing happened.
Not even a common stand has been reached regarding this issue.

Comments #28, #36, #201 and #226 are very informative and constructive. Some comments beside mine point out how wrong is the current approach to let the plugins,
and more precisely the "hosted applets" inside the plugins decide for
themselves.

Asking the user every time or even presenting them with a decision isn't the
best approach. But something like the info-bar for the password manager might
work if the plugin's hosted app asks for a certain key. (So let the user
entrust the partcular web-app. And the browser warns and informs the user about
what he/she is about to do and how can she/he reverse it.)
